The Mystic Spa provides an opportunity for Mystic Practitioners to work
together in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere, showcasing their services
and promoting their individual businesses, while providing the public with
a chance to obtain a 'sample' of their services for a reduced cost.
The Mystic Spa distinguishes itself from "psychic fairs" with this
approach of building personal relationships with clients, and growing each
practitioner's business, rather than having the spa be a primary
source of income for particpants. As Poppy discovered, while reading for
the All is Well book shoppe, the greatest 'profit' from a spa is not the money
made on that day, but the future business generated as a result.
With this in mind, the Mystic Spa is always ready to welcome new
practitioners interested in working together to promote their business.
We are open to all sorts of modalities and sure we can find a place for
you!
Types of services we're looking for:
Readers - Tarot, rune, palmistry, graphology, aura readers,
clairvoyants, intuitive readers, psychometrics, clairaudients, mediums,
crystal tossing, shell casting.....
Healers - Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, acupressure, massage,
iridology, Indian scalp massage, NLP, reflexology, Bach flower remedy,
tongue reading, Ayerveda.....

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Below are some common questions that are asked by those considering
participation. Again, please feel free to phone or e-mail if you have
any questions that aren't covered here or if you'd like to get involved.
- What does it cost to be a practitioner at Mystic Spa?
It is $40 for each practitioner to cover the room, rent the Brant
Street sign/advertising
(for one week prior), tables and chairs and insurance. On the day of, it
is 30% of your take (ie: you keep 70%).
- Why do I have to pay a flat fee AND a percentage?
As mentioned, the $40 covers the basics. The 30% covers incidentals
(coffee and refreshements, receipt books, gas, decorations,
music, any advertising, public relations costs, etc.), and allows the
host to make a little money since they won't be able to read for
the day. The host will help with set up and take down, handle all
your money (so you don't need to worry about collecting, making
change etc), direct people to you, answer questions while you are
working, promote any of your advertising and watch the clock for you
while you work. We never charge any admission fee to attendees
(and we plan to keep it that way), since that
encourages attendance, which helps us all. In the spirit
of what we feel a co-operative should be, we felt this is fair to
everyone involved.
- Do you have the ability to charge through to health insurance
companies?
Not at this point, we don't. All services are offered on cash
basis only. If any service a practitioner provides can be covered by any
form of insurance, please make arrangements for those services at a
separate appointment outside the context of the mystic spa.
- Can I rent a table and sell merchandise only, without offering a
service?
No. This is a day for people to affordably indulge themselves with
spiritual and healthy services. You are welcome to bring a *small*
selection of product for us to sell on our merchandise table, but please
be aware it is more for 'show' than for profit. If you would like to
participate by selling product ONLY, we'd be glad to do that! Please
arrange this with us and we will have it at the table(s) with Poppy.
Again, she will handle the sales and money. There is not a $40 fee.
Mystic Spa takes a 10% commission on gross sales. Technically speaking
all sales are on your behalf. Any taxes on sales are your responsibility.
- Do I need to bring a table or chairs?
We provide a regular 8'x3' table, and chairs, as needed. However if you
require special furniture, like a massage table or chair, then you
must bring your own.
- What sort of signs or displays do I need?
None, really. Visitors do not 'wander among the tables' as they do at a
psychic fair, so there is no need to 'advertise' at your table. By the
time someone approaches your table, they are about to receive service
from you, which will 'sell' you much better than any sign. Naturally,
you should have a small stack of pamphlets and/or business cards on hand,
so that they have something to take with them when they leave. You are
also welcome to leave pamphlets and business cards at the Welcome table,
in case a visitor doesn't have time for a reading (or you are booked
solid).
- What about decorations?
We will have a few pretty things to decorate the room, but strongly
encourage you to bring your own patterned table cloths and similar
'textured' materials, to give your table a 'personal' touch.
- Can I promote or advertise Mystic Spa?
Of course! The more people who know about Mystic Spa, the better! Please
feel free to download/print our mini-flyer from the website and distribute
them. We're happy to provide business cards if you would like them. Tell
your friends, tell everyone! But please be assured there is no obligation
to do so. Because of this, we ask anyone taking it upon themselves to
promote Mystic Spa to remember that they may be putting in an extra
effort/expense that is not matched/shared by other talent. Please make any
and all decisions about advertising and promotion with your own business
self-interest in mind. If you promote Mystic Spa, then you are promoting
all the other talent there, as well as yourself. And while I'm sure they
would appreciate your efforts, they (and we) are not obliged to
reciprocate or compensate anyone for these extra efforts.
Legal stuff: We do ask that you NOT enter into any arrangements with
third parties that would make (or imply) an arrangement with Mystic
Spa (such as reciprocal advertising). If someone wants to have their
business advertised at Mystic Spa in exchange for promoting Mystic Spa,
this *must* be approved by Poppy Lynn. There may be other pre-existing
arrangements that would conflict, and so on. We're all working together
here, but as hostess, she's responsible, so please respect that. :)
- Can I sell Gift Certificates?
Any talent participating in the *current* Mystic Spa can bring Gift
certificates for their own business, for us to sell at our merchandise
table. If you feel it would benefit your business, you can create gift
certificates that specifically promote your appearance at Mystic Spa
and/or require a client to come to Mystic Spa to obtain a 'mini' service
from you there. Please note that any such certificate is entirely your
responsibility, we will honor them on your behalf, but you will be obliged
to pay us the standard 30% value of the services rendered. This is true
even if you have offered the certificate to someone as a promotional
give-away. Please be sure that any gift certificate you issue is clearly
marked as being for your services and not for any other talent (unless you
make private arrangements with that talent).
- Are there Mystic Spa Gift Certificates?
Not at the moment. If we do choose to sell Gift Certificates good for
'any service at Mystic Spa', it will be strictly at Poppy's discretion,
and it will be her obligation to honor them at the door, and pay the
standard 70% fee to the talent(s) from whom the certificate holder obtains
their services. Please note, Poppy and Mystic Spa are not obligated to
honor any certificates issued without her authorization. The only
certificates issued so far were in the Mystic Spa prize packs given away
by Talk Radio for the December Mystic Spa, and these have now expired.
- I can't particpate this month, but would like to next month. Can I
do that?
Absolutely! Please contact us and provide your information and we'll
be in touch closer to the date. We're pretty flexible.
